Re-read it last week and it still holds up. He also did a cartoon of AL that was great. Great guy to talk to and you always get a sketch with a purchase. Just a class act all the way. Looking forward to talking to him at Detroit Fanfare Sept. 24 & 25 ,2011Hanger18shirtshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13414820769662109818noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33311991.post-21508615514522259652011-08-30T08:19:29.790-04:002011-08-30T08:19:29.790-04:00He is a nice guy and that is a great story. Douglas ...This was my favorite purchase at the Con. Douglas Paszkiewicz was gracious and cool. He opened the collection to one of his shorts and said, "IF you read this and like it, you'll love the rest of it. IF you hate it, you'll hate the rest." And he was right, because he sold me.

The other thing was that he overheard me talking to my friend about the GI Bill as he was illustrating a sketch in the softcover for me and asked about my service. Once he found out I was a veteran he gave me the hardcover for the same price as the softcover and did a new illustration in it.

It might not matter to most, but it has always been little things people did for Vets that touched me. I actually had to get out of there once I got it because Douglas told me about his family that was in the service and how much it meant to him for all of us that served. I had to get out of there because I wasn't going to fucking cry at a Comic Con and I felt I was getting dangerously close.

Getting the hardcover was a treat, but his greatest gift was the contribution of fantastic comics to the medium. He turned me into a fan overnight. True Story.Shawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03026335818721649588noreply@blogger.com
