I suppose this is a more friendly way of doing it (hey, did you really like these characters/story? Maybe you should read the other book and we've given you an entry point for it!) than absolutely forcing you to do it (If you want to know what's happening in Book A, you must read Book B). <br /><br />Now that I think about it, this is more like a really in depth guest star appearance.
