In which the holidays push back the normal Wednesday to Thursday, again. At least this week hardly anything is coming out (compared to last week) and as the NFL playoffs are beginning that means a lot of quality games over the next two week-ends. Of course the Ravens get to rest a week until we get to beat another team and then most likely face the Chargers for the right to win the Super Bowl from what ever patsy the NFC put on the field.
52 - Now we are into the third act of this book and it really is a good comic. Still the first book I read every week.
Atom - This is a really solid series and I enjoy this book, but then I love almost every Gail Simone book.
All Star Superman - This was my pick for the best series of the year last year and only four issues came out. This book is just a fantastic experience. It is the silver age being done the right way. It takes all of the silver age ideas and makes then new again and is told with a modern style. I absolutely love this book. And the cover is great.
American Virgin - When last we left our hero his plane had blown up over the ocean, should be interesting to see where we go next. Good series.
Exterminators - A solid vertigo series, that I worry may not have enough of a following to continue long enough.
JLA Classified - The end of the Chaykin story arc. Should have been done in 4 issues.
Jonah Hex - A really good series, that is proving how good Westerns can be, between Loveless and Hex DC has really revived the western.
Manhunter - Hopefully sales will be good enough to keep Kate around for longer then just this arc.
Midnighter - Last issue the Time Authority people had stopped him from killing Hitler, so it should be a good issue to see how Ennis keeps this from being too mundane.
Nightwing - Really enjoying this book again and the whole Monitor mystery with Nightwing, Ion and others has me curious as to where that story line is going. I enjoy it when something is planned out in advanced and the clues are laid out ahead of time.
Other Side - This has been a good mini-series and an interesting view of how the two sides in Viet Nam may have seen the war.
Scalped - This is a new series from Vertigo and DC's copy for the first issue reads as follows:
Written by Jason Aaron; Art by R.M. Guéra; Cover by Jock Introducing SCALPED, an all-new monthly series by up-and-coming writer Jason Aaron (THE OTHER SIDE) featuring the gritty art of R.M. Guéra (Heavy Metal).
Fifteen years ago, Dashiell "Dash" Bad Horse ran away from a life of abject poverty and utter hopelessness on the Prairie Rose Indian Reservation in hopes of finding something better. Now, he's come back home to find nothing much has changed on "The Rez" — short of a glimmering new casino, and a once-proud people overcome by drugs and organized crime. So is he back to set things right or just get a piece of the action? Also at the center of the storm is Tribal Leader Lincoln Red Crow, a former "Red Power" activist turned burgeoning crime boss who figures that after 100 years of the Lakota being robbed and murdered by the white man, it's now time to return the favor. Now Dash — armed with nothing but a set of nunchucks, a hellbent-for-leather attitude and (at least) one dark secret — must survive a world of gambling, gunfights, G-men, Dawg Soldierz, massacres, meth labs, trashy sex, fry bread, Indian pride, Thunder Beings, the rugged beauty of the Badlands…and even a brutal scalping or two.
For a dose of Sopranos-style organized crime drama mixed with current Native American culture, look no further than SCALPED!

That's a lot of stuff to introduce the first issue. My expectations are pretty much let's read it and see what it is.
Superman - I'm enjoying Busiek's and Pacheo's run, just not sure where we are going with it. Still right now all things Superman are good.
Superman Confidential - Could have been the book I want to read the most this week, but All Star Superman is out this week also. Three Superman books and they all look to be either excellent or at least very good.
Amazing Spider-Man - This book is ahead of Civil War, so it is probably very light on anything really happening.
Bullet Point - A pleasant Elsewords tale, that is enjoyable.
Civil War - The penultimate chapter. Will it deliver or will it be a snore. I'm such an idiot fan, that I always hope it will be some real and significant change. Like Cap is killed and Bucky takes over the identity.
Civil War Front Line - This book has left me cold lately. It's not bad, it is just not interesting anymore.
Fantastic Four The End - I have really enjoyed this series, but I'm an FF fan and an Alan Davis fan, so I was an easy sell, but it is an entertaining What If.
Hulk - This has dragged on so long that I don't care how it ends anymore.
NewUniversal - Issue #1 was great and Ellis is on such a fantastic roll as a writer I look forward to all of his books right now.
Punisher War Journal - Curious to see how they try and make Frank fit back into the Marvel U.
Ultimate Vision - Well she was killed at the end of issue #1, so now what. Of course wiping out the main character at the end of the first issue seems to be standard for Marvel now days.
Uncanny X-Men - Brubaker's worst work right now, but still it is an okay read.
Fear Agent - Perils of Pauline continue. It has gotten a little bleak, hopefully more fun can return to this title soon.
X-Isle - Good little mini-series, I believe it is the second to last issue of the series. This has been fun and I would encourage you to pick up the trade (hopefully).
Next week we should be back to this being done of Monday for what I get Wednesday and we will know who the Ravens are going to play in the second round of the play offs.
