3.99 The New Normal Price for Marvel Comics?
I scanned the new DC Universe and Marvel Universe January solicitations and pulled out all the $3.99 cover price comics that are 32 pages long and Marvel had all of them.
WHY? They own 50% of the market and have higher average sales on their books, yet they are giving the least value to the consumer. I would love to hear why. The answer will be mini-series have lower print runs and we give cardstock covers - feels like an extra buck is being taken when they can.
Even though I'm not a big of fan of Marvel as I am DC, at least I feel like they are not trying to rip me off whenever they can.

i'm dumping almost all my marvel titles. the quality of the content has gone way down (imho); each book seems to have flash backs from previous months! and $3.99? c'mon. all these crossover's are weak as well.
ReplyDeletelet's call a spade a spade. marvel's movies are kicking ass, so their comic sales are up, so in effort to capitalize on that they raised prices on the books by 30%. they know the hype won't last forever, so they're making a quick buck now. don't believe me? check out the 4+ wolverine titles coming now before the movie.
I dropped any title at 3.99 as well, I buy alot more dc now (batman, green lantern have great art and good storys compared to marvels crud art and sub par "string 'em along so they find out what really happens in the next 6 issue mini series") Not to mention, it is 3.99 and they even remove the cardstock covers, so we get the same paper as 2.99 comics for 3.99! yessss
