RED CIRCLE: THE SHIELD #1, RED CIRCLE: INFERNO #1 and THE SHIELD #1-6 are collected in this title introducing Joe Higgins – a man whose life was saved by radically experimental technology. Now Higgins has signed on for a whole new mission as The Shield!
Lee: Talk about a waste of paper!!!! Why even release this book? The series were so bad, and so under supported that they were cancelled after 10 issues. This is a loser of an idea and DC needs to stop publishing stuff. Who knows, if they did that maybe people would actually go into the back issue bins again.
Jim: I have to agree with Lee on this one. I thought the series had some merit, but if the sales warrant canceling after 10 issues why do a trade.
Gwen:Yeah, but isn't Greg looking forward to it? I mean, at least they'll sell one copy, right?

Jim: Two collected versions of the same book. It is an interesting idea, but even with the talent attached to this project, it is a pass.
Lee: Sadly, I’m getting both versions. I want the full size and I want the extras. I know I’m getting screwed because of this “wonderful” marketing scheme but I can’t help myself.
Gwen:Um, I'm betting on Superman unless M. Ali has some kryptonite lines gloves...

MATURE READERS
Written by ANDERSEN GABRYCH

New from Vertigo Crime! Frank Grissel is a hard-knuckled private eye – and a deeply closeted homosexual – set in the very real world of 1953 San Francisco. Aided by his long-suffering secretary (and sometime live-in lover) Loretta, Grissel’s search for a runaway girl winds up with his becoming a suspect in a string of gruesome murders. The case takes twists and turns through the Golden Gate’s greasy underbelly: the beguiling arms of a Chinese shipping heiress (and smuggler); an unexpected reunion with the daughter he abandoned long ago; the loss of Loretta to the sadistic clutches of the high-powered “Colonel”; and finally to the horrifying, gender-bending truth.
Jim: I buying all of these novels as they come out. While each one may not be a home run they have all been at least worth the bang for the buck.
Lee: I’ve been reading them because you loan them to me. I’m not sure I would recommend any of them at full price. They haven’t been that good.
Gwen: I love crime stories. Sadly many of them fall short of my expectations :(

Jim: I love Babs and sort of want this statue, but it is more good girl work then a solid Batgirl statue.
Lee: Let me get this right, you’re intimidated by a statue of good girl work!!! Who are you and what have you done with the dude who made comments about Zatanna’s ‘magical abilities’?
Gwen:Yeah, she doesn't look like much of a crime fighter here. It's kind of disappointing.

BLACKEST NIGHT SERIES 6 ACTION FIGURES
The hugely successful BLACKEST NIGHT action figure line continues with four awesome new characters!
Included in this sixth installment of the series are Hal Jordan, the personification of the Green Lantern Corps; Wonder Woman, who finds the power of love and joins the ranks of the Star Sapphires; Hawkgirl, who was one of the first heroes to lose her life to the dark power of the Black Lanterns; and The Flash, who couples the power of the blue ring with his trademark speed to carry the message of hope to all.
Jim: Wow this makes 24 action figures tied into this event. Blackest Night is really a major success for DC on multiple fronts.
Lee: I couldn’t agree more! Nothing screams success like a dead Hawkgirl next to the dead Aquaman. People are gonna love walking into your office. And, to comment somehow Batgirl statue is too good girl but WW purple thong action figure is ok? Are you taking WW to the office?????
Jim: I respect Babs more. You don’t understand. And it is tough explaining the dead characters in my office.
Gwen: He has more than one Star Sapphire figure you know.

Jim: What is killing me with DC is they have a huge library of material they have never reprinted and they release it at a snail’s pace. Heck Dark Horse and Marvel crank out the old material like there is no tomorrow. Still a decent month from DC.
Lee: It’s a fine month. Nothing really stood out for me. Although, the definition of ‘magical abilities’ might be a good post for another day!
Gwen:It's a sad month when the only thing that sticks in Lee's mind has to do with breast euphemisms. Oh wait, that's every month... never mind.
