Gwen: I feel like I should be taking bets or something on who wins what fight. Personally I'm rooting for Kyle to come out on top.
Lee: Maybe Gwen is to young to remember but I think this is the 5th or 6th time that Jordan has fought Gardner. Heck, it's the 3rd or 4th time that he's fought Rayner I think. BUT, this time is different because Johns is doing it. *SIGH* And the fact that this 'event' starts in April and goes through the entire summer just exhausts me.

Gwen: If the new Blue Beetle is dead I think I may quit comic books. I am really tired of perfectly good newer characters being killed off just because. Jamie as Blue Beetle has been a great character - and really, after killing Ryan Choi for no apparent reason you think DC would pay attention to their fans a little bit more.
Lee: I think you are right not to believe the hype. Winnick is not known for killing characters off. He may have other pet subjects but killing isn't one of them. I am still amazed that this, of all the Justice League books, is the best JL title.

Gwen: I don't actually know this character and presumably from the "returns to DC" part of the solicitation he's been around before... but regardless this looks like a neat new series. It's always nice to look at the newer material the major companies are putting out as the cape stuff can get old sometimes.
Lee: Xombi was part of the Milestone Universe with Hardware, Icon, and Static. Morrison's Doom Patrol was hot at the time, and Xombi was an attempt to mimic the DP. The stories were suitably weird and I think it was fairly well received. I am interested in this, but Irving can't handle monthly work so I'm betting delays or fill in artists appear quickly.

Gwen: I'm pretty happy about Scott Snyder writing Detective Comics. It seems like a good fit to me. Also, I can't think of a time a Killer Whale corpse isn't a great place to start a comic book story! Ok, that's not true, but it's still an interesting starting point.
Lee: Snyder is one hot writer right now. Everything he touches is gold. I can't wait to get this in fancy hc!

Gwen: The longer I read comic books the less character death (or the hype thereof) has any meaning for me. It's become a cheap gimmick that seems to be even more prevalent of late. I remember reading Crisis as a kid when Barry Allen died and actually crying. Now it doesn't even phase me.
Lee: Oooh yeah. This is how I've always envisioned Oracle in the DCU. Whether going to her own funeral or sitting behind the computer being an infojockette, she is always wearing her best corsette laced up tight pushing her... her... software up and out!

Lee: That's a really good question. I think all the writers who have worked with Harley have pushed her farther and farther away from the Joker. It will be interesting if Calloway undoes years of character development. Then again, maybe he's got a grand plan. I hope it succeeds whatever it is.
