One thing that happens to me and I’m sure other people is that when you criticize one thing, you are assumed to be for something else. I have experienced some people thinking that because I’m against what Obama has been doing so far to assume I was for Bush. It is annoying since I thought that the Bush administration was horrible. During Bush the government grew larger then ever before and he was spending us into oblivion. Add onto that the Constitution was apparently a nice document, but not really important. So imagine my chagrin when I thought Obama could not be any worse (I voted for Ron Paul – via a write in). Instead we get a spending bill that increases the size of the deficit by three times what Bush did and an expansion of the Federal Government to even more gargantuan proportions. Add into that the Obama administration is continuing the trend of trying to put more controls on us and further reduce true freedoms (see the internet bill they are doing now). My question is why are my only choices a soft form of Fascism or a socialist regime? Ron Paul for President in 2012 – I’m starting the campaign early.
The books I’m looking forward to most this week are:
Batman and Robin #1 – Finally we get to see Dick Grayson as Batman for at least a year (Prodigal Son hardly counted) and I have to say that having Damien as Robin makes for a more interesting dynamic for story telling then Tim Drake. My big hope is that Dick remains Batman for awhile even after Bruce comes back. The word “Written by Grant Morrison: Art and Cover by Frank Quitely. "Batman Reborn" begins here! With the reunited team of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely (ALL-STAR SUPERMAN, WE3,New X-Men), this first issue kicks off a 3-part story arc that can't be missed! Chew #1 – The premise and the cover sold this baby to me. I love the odd premise and the cover
art shows promise, all we need to see if the actual execution against the idea i s done well. The pitch “Tony Chu is a cop with a secret. A weird secret. Tony Chu is Cibopathic, which means he gets psychic impressions from whatever he eats. It also means he's a hell of a detective, as long as he doesn't mind nibbling on the corpse of a murder victim to figure out whodunit, and why. It's a dirty job, and Tony has to eat terrible things in the name of justice. And if that wasn't bad enough, the government has figured out Tony Chu's secret. They have plans for him... whether he likes it or not. Presenting a twisted new series about cops, crooks, cooks, cannibals and clairvoyants, written by JOHN LAYMAN (Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness, House of M: Fantastic Four and PUFFED) with mind-blowing art by astonishing comics newcomer ROB GUILLORY.”
Irredeemable #3 – Right now this series is the best new series of 2009 for me and I’m hard pressed to see anything that will be challenging it. Mark Waid and Peter Krause are doing a tremendous job with this story in what is shaping up to be a seminal run for both creators. Your are selling yourself short by not getting this book. The hype “Irredeemable dares to ask the question: what if the world's greatest hero decided to become the world¹s greatest villain? Does Plutonion's past hold the key to his current deadly rampage? Or does it even matter?”
The Mighty #5 – A different take on the Superman type character, but it is
also a very strong book. This and Irredeemable are exploring the dark side of things, but both are there own thing. What’s inside “Written by Peter J. This week’s books that are on the bubble for being canned start with Conan. I doubt I will drop it as Truman is writing it well and the art by Tomas Giorello is great, but I have grown a little weary of Conan, but I think it will pass. Dead Run as a new mini-series is on the short list also as I can no longer consider buying a mini-series to see how it plays out, it must be a very good start, which also encompasses Werewolves on the Moon versus Vampires. Both Dead Run and Werewolves have creative people that I know and like, but I still have to enjoy the first issue. Oddly enough Chew which has a great and odd premise is both most anticipated and could be cut as it is also a new #1. Next up is Mighty Avengers. It is quirky, it has its' moments, I'm just not sure I care enough about it to continue much longer. Finally and most likely to be cut is New Mutants. The artwork was bland and last issue was not that exciting, it feels eminently ordinary.

Werewolves on the Moon versus Vampires #1 (of 3) - Through all of history, on the night of the full moon, the bloodcurdling cries of werewolves have pierced the night sky. For centuries, werewolves have had to content themselves with shortened forays of feral change as dictated by the source of their power -- the moon! But all that is about to change as three werewolf friends -- Ted, Jeff, and Stan, leave Earth and travel to the lunar surface in a quest to become kings of the moon! Unfortunately, Moon Patrol captain Maggie Pilgrim has other plans . . . as does the hive of vampires living on the dark side!This week’s books that are on the bubble for being canned start with Conan. I doubt I will drop it as Truman is writing it well and the art by Tomas Giorello is great, but I have grown a little weary of Conan, but I think it will pass. Dead Run as a new mini-series is on the short list also as I can no longer consider buying a mini-series to see how it plays out, it must be a very good start, which also encompasses Werewolves on the Moon versus Vampires. Both Dead Run and Werewolves have creative people that I know and like, but I still have to enjoy the first issue. Oddly enough Chew which has a great and odd premise is both most anticipated and could be cut as it is also a new #1. Next up is Mighty Avengers. It is quirky, it has its' moments, I'm just not sure I care enough about it to continue much longer. Finally and most likely to be cut is New Mutants. The artwork was bland and last issue was not that exciting, it feels eminently ordinary.
