Fantastic Four (4): First Steps - Related Merchandise Smorgasbord

It's too late to go back to bed, so I'm caffeinating up with a cup of guayusa tea to keep the headache at bay.  So, let's dive into my latest jam (and obsession), Fantastic 4: First Steps merchandise:

There is so much cool stuff that they've put out in support of this movie.  It may be the best product-related blitz that's ever occurred for a Marvel movie.  Of course, we've got the traditional Marvel Legends Action FiguresFunko POPS, and Popcorn/Drink buckets.  But leaning into their 60s-era vibe, we also have cereal toys (good luck finding one) as seen in the film, collectible milk glasses (good luck getting one), and best of all - an actual 45rpm single of the main theme.

Many of these are already sold out, and commanding increased after-market prices. So if you happen find any at retail prices, buy two, three, or four for an easy return on your investment (not guaranteed - just a theory).  I really wish I'd ordered the HERBIE bucket, which is practically life-sized or at least half-sized.

I received my record from Amazon on Wednesday and I've played it repeatedly at high volume on my tower speakers in the basement, which pretty much shakes and resounds throughout the house.  And I can't resist swaying to it, from the "first steps" to the driving build-up that continues to lift you higher and higher, crescendo-ing into the four note: FAN-TAS-TIC FOUR!  It's phenomenal (and I've been listening to the theme on repeat for the last few hours).  Some songs earworm into your brain, this one I want to implant into my psyche like Ceti Alpha V slug-bug (eel).

Now, if I could only create a viral dance ala Napoleon Dynamite or Wednesday Addams.  Alas, not all of us have the Midas touch when it comes from profiting from this hobby (I'm looking at you, Jim!).

I would have been happy enough to just get the main theme on the record, but it also has the hilarious (to me anyway) "Let Us Be Devoured" hippy folk song from the end credits.  It's just a perfect presentation.

I may try to upload a video later of the actual record playing, but I've got to do it when my wife isn't asleep or teleworking downstairs.  It would be much too loud for her!

  1. Not sure I am profiting but getting sales. That is a big merchandising blitz by Marvel and surprising since many of their recent movies tanked.
